Cookie Policy
1. What are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies and browser local storage are standard web technologies that allow a website to store small pieces of textual data directly on your device to remember preferences across page visits.
2. How We Use Cookies
The Dulles Astronomy Club website uses strictly functional, non-advertising storage mechanisms:
- Point System Tracker (Local Storage): When you check off completed activities on our Points Calculator, your selections can be retained on your device so your progress is not lost when you refresh the page.
- Cookie Consent Preference: Remembers whether you have acknowledged our privacy and cookie banner so you aren't prompted repeatedly.
- External CDN Resources: We utilize trusted font and icon delivery networks (Google Fonts, FontAwesome, and Lenis smooth scrolling) which may handle standard cache cookies to deliver assets efficiently.
3. Advertising and Commercial Trackers
We do not operate any third-party behavioral advertising cookies, affiliate trackers, or commercial data brokers. This website is purely educational and non-commercial.
4. Managing Your Preferences
You can clear local storage or block cookies at any time through your browser's security settings (e.g., Chrome Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data). Clearing local storage will simply reset interactive form selections to their default empty states.
